synopsis

Through so-called eco-processing, i.e. the manual processing of film material by the action of organic materials – in this case, for example, various types of fruit or coffee and wine – the artist composes a collage evoking the blurred boundary between sleep and wakefulness, when the body surrenders to stillness and the mind moves into unexplored associations.

biography

Cecilia Araneda (1970) is a Canadian-Chilean filmmaker whose documentary and fiction work explores public and private memory and their relationship to identity. Ji.hlava IDFF screened her film What Comes Between (2009), in which she revisits the Pinochet coup, and her diary collage The Space Shuttle Challenger (2017).
