How to enjoy the festival to the fullest while being environmentally friendly? Thank you for helping us be more sustainable!
Ji.hlava´s seven sustainability tips
Join us in making Ji.hlava one step more sustainable. We share seven eco-friendly tips and two for social sustainability. It's up to you which of them you take to heart and turn into action. And remember – every small step matters!
1. Sustainable transport: Come to the festival by public transport, carpooling or, for the environmentally passionate, by bike. For example, you can use the Bla Bla Car app to share rides. You'll save CO2 emissions and you can make new festival friendships along the way. ❤
2. Local food: Find tips for seasonal offerings, including vegetarian or vegan delicacies, on the festival food map HERE. Support the local economy and together we will reduce the ecological footprint of food.
3. Beverages and packaging: Take time to eat and drink and instead of packaged alternatives to take away, have food on site! Every year we reduce the amount of festival waste. We use recyclable packaging, reducing the use of single-use plastic. You will find recycling bins at each festival site. Thank you for sorting!
4. Energy: Try to save energy where possible. Lights, air conditioning, heating. Every kilowatt-hour saved at your accommodation counts!
5. Reuse your old accreditation: Bring your old accreditation with you to Ji.hlava! We'll put a new sticker on it and save paper. We print over 6,000 passes, so even a "small" step counts. Moreover, the festival pass will enable you to enjoy free public transport around Jihlava during the festival!
6. Equality and inclusiveness: Come to films and lectures focused on social sustainability issues. After all, sustainability is not just an ecological phenomenon. Look for diversity around you too and if someone needs help at the festival due to any disadvantage, offer your support.
7. Be inspired to take action: Look for opportunities to network with other festival participants who are working towards sustainability. Get inspired at the Inspiration Forum, this year dedicated to (not only) the topics of water, drought, and food. Look for new friendships and opportunities to create and collaborate together sustainably. Together we are stronger, smarter and more sustainable.
