Anna Durnová is a political scientist who explores on the role of knowledge, expertise and emotions in modern democracies, primarily focusing on the controversies in the field of health and science. She works at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna and is a Faculty Fellow of the Yale University Centre for Cultural Sociology. She has been a lecturer at Universities in Essex, Lyon and Paris. Anna published a monograph entitled The Politic of Intimacy (University of Michigan Press, 2018). Since 2018, she has been the leading researcher of the project called the Roles of Intimacy in the Czech Controversy Regarding Home Birth at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Charles University in Prague. In addition to her professional activities, Anna has been a contributor to a2alarm and Hospodářské noviny. She lives and works in Vienna and produces irregular commentaries on current affairs in Austria for Czech Television and Czech Radio.
