Sofie Cato Maas is a Dutch film critic living and working in London where she finished her BA Film Studies at King’s College. She has worked for several film festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam, and served on several juries, including IFFR’s EYE Amsterdam’s jury in 2016 and the 28 Times Cinema at the Venice Film Festival in 2018. In 2019 she was part of the Locarno Critics Academy and in 2021 of the Collegium at Le Giornate Del Cinema Muto in Pordenone. Visiting film festivals throughout the year, she has written mostly for Senses of Cinema and MUBI. Sofie is predominantly interested in the relation between cinema, memory and history and the concept of unfinished cinema, about which she wrote her dissertation.
