synopsis

In the typical handwriting of the Los Ingrávidos collective and through the accumulation of visually expressive elements – in this case the pupils of people’s and animals’ eyes captured on film material – a ritual artefact is created through the combination with a hypnotic drum accompaniment, leading to dance and trance. An initiatory composition referring to forms of consciousness and ancestral vision becomes a fluid liturgy.

biography

Los Ingrávidos is an independent film collective founded in 2012 in Tehuacán, Mexico, with the aim of decolonizing ways of seeing the world and driving a wedge into schematic audiovisual vocabularies. The collective has produced more than 500 experimental films that have been screened at film festivals and exhibited in galleries. Ji.hlava IDFF presented the films Irradiation (2021), Lunar Dances (2020) and Sunstone (2017).
