War in the Archives / From the Cold War to Gaza: a brief history of war reporting
A guided tape of footage from Czech and Czechoslovak TV news will chronicle the development of the country’s war journalism from the 1960s to the 2000s. This will include the Cold War, the Global War on Terror, the occupation of Crimea, the Arab Spring and other war milestones crucial to the current context of military conflicts. All through the historical lens of war reporting. Can this type of reporting understand conflict in the present tense? How has the media's treatment of war changed over time? How does the current historical context enter the genre? A unique inventory of media coverage of the most significant war conflicts.
