synopsis

Libuše Jarcovjáková is a legend of world photography and an unbridled woman who defied all conventions. Her life is a mosaic of fascinating encounters and wild stories - from the rough underground of communist Czechoslovakia, to exclusive photo shoots for fashion leaders in Tokyo, to her dramatic escape to West Berlin, where she witnessed the fall of the Iron Curtain. Thousands of analogue photographs and pages of personal diaries were turned into a formally unique documentary directed by Klára Tasovská, which thrilled the audience at the Berlinale.

biography

Klára Tasovská (* 1980) is a director of mainly documentary films. She studied monumental production and new media at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and documentary film directing at FAMU. She made the film Půlnoc and, together with Lukáš Kokeš, the films Pevnost and Nic jako dřív. She won the Czech Lion for Půlnoc, the Jury Prize at the International Documentary Film Festival in Jihlava and a prize at the Molodisk Festival in Kiev. She has also participated in the documentary series Gottland, mapping the 20th century in the Czech Republic.
