synopsis

Dangerous gambling trends are thriving on social media and online today. Lootboxes, magic chests with randomly generated game equipment, are considered outright gambling. The whole system is deliberately targeting the younger generation and minors who, because of their addiction, acquire money in all sorts of ways.

biography

Her work began with the student film Ďakujem ti melónik (2014), which was shortlisted for the Magnesia Awards for Best Student Film and then screened at the iShorts vol. 6 short film festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival. The following film, Into the Gun (2016), was nominated for the Pavel Koutecký Award or the Ji.hlava IDFF. Her next work is Theory of Equality (2017), in which the director mapped the state of the current debate on gender equality in the Czech Republic. Barbora also presented her original documentary film Reality, which reflects on the current housing crisis. In 2020, she won the Czech Lion and the Czech Film Critics Award for her film In the Net, which also became the most successful Czech documentary in the history of the Czech Republic.
