My Street Films
In its eleven years of existence, My Street Films has established itself as a vital educational project that inspires interested members of the general public to make short films about issues they feel are important. The uniqueness of the project lies in its openness - it connects a year-round community of people who are actively with professionals from the media industry. In addition to the national competition for the best film, it organises workshops for selected candidates on documentary filmmaking, open seminars for the public, intensive workshops or film screenings combined with lectures and discussions. In the online edition of IDFF Ji.hlava we will present the films produced at this year's workshops in Prague, Brno and Ostrava, including the winning films of the My Street Films Award competition.
Between Everything and Nothing
Confusion, uncertainty, and the desire to find direction in a world full of possibilities. All of this arises when dreams begin to blur into reality, and you find yourself in a quarter-life crisis. The author shares her own feelings during her twenties as she faces critical life decisions. A person’s roots, where he/she was born and where he/she belongs (Ibasho), are often neglected today. Nikaho-city, which gained city status in 2005 by merging three villages, is in Akita Prefecture that has the highest population of people over 65 in Japan. Fish
When my dad became seriously ill, he stopped working and took up fishing. Fish swim in their microcosm, unaware they could become prey. The pond is both a constraint and a contemplative mirror, in which the father-daughter relationship occasionally glimmers. And the observer becomes the observed.
