Ji.hlava Film Fund

The Ji.hlava Film Fund provides in-kind grants for visual and sound post-production of documentary and hybrid films at the stage of production or post-production.

Ji.hlava Film Fund

Its mission is to support a range of remarkable and creative filmmakers who have emerged in the recent years in the wider region of Europe in the completion of their cinematic documentary works on contemporary themes, thus helping these films to succeed internationally.

Eligible projects:

Documentary and hybrid films with a lenght over 15 minutes at the production or post-production stage. The completed film will premiere at the Ji.hlava IDFF.

Eligible countries:

EU member states, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Iceland, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Norway, Russia, Serbia, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom

Selection process:

Selection will be done by film professionals nominated by the Ji.hlava IDFF. We are primarily looking for projects with unique authorial style and focus on contemporary and thought-provoking themes.

Thanks to its partners, the Ji.hlava Film Fund is able to offer valuable, high quality resources to the selected projects:

  • The visual effects and post-production house UPP will provide an in-kind grant for visual post-production modelled to the needs of the award-winning film in the estimated value of 15,000 EUR. (1 day online, 4 days grading, DCP Cinema Master, TV Master).
  • The sound studio and post-production company Soundsquare will offer sound mixing and a final sound master in the estimated value of 5,000 EUR.
  • The Center for Documentary Film (CDF) is a research and education center for Czech and international artists, scholars and thinkers which houses a library and a video library in Jihlava. The CDF will arrange a test screening for the selected film and provide the award-winning director with research-support for his or her next project.
