synopsis
The film captures an animal being killed out of love and necessity. Rural images shot on 16mm film depict a family of herdsmen, whose entire world revolves around their co-existence with animals. It’s a life of food and death, and the same human hands that feed an animal are the same ones that must also slaughter it.

biography
Director from the basque country Maddi Barber studied a master in Visual Anthropology at the University of Manchester. Her films (Land Underwater and Above 592 metres) have been shown in numerous film festivals such Visions du Reél, San Sebastián International Film Festival (Zabaltegi), Curtocircuito, Alcances, Porto Post Doc and Reykjavik International Film Festival, among others. In 2019 she won the X-FILMS project at the Punto de Vista International Film Festival with which she produced the short film Red. Recently she has created the production company Pirenaika from where she has produced works by Irati Gorostidi, Gerard Ortín and Ainhoa Gutiérrez.more about film
