synopsis

This award-winning student film uses humorous animated collages to explore the characters, actors, and work of the big studios. Set to a dialogue-like commentary and music evoking various cinematic genres, the film engages in a critique of the star system of cinema.

biography

Arcadii Faustov (1936–2009) never formally studied filmmaking, but worked as a director, cinematographer and screenwriter. A graduate of the Power Engineering Institute, from 1965 he led the Film Studio at the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute, where he taught aspiring filmmakers. Faustov’s graduates include Eugene Mamut, creator of special effects in the Hollywood hit Predator (1987).
