synopsis
Unsuspecting tourists enjoy a peaceful holiday in Myanmar's hotel complexes, lazily walking between swimming pools and sun umbrellas, while ten kilometers away, members of the Rohingya ethnic group are being tortured and killed as a result of the largest genocide in Asia since the Vietnam War.
biography
Sunniva Sundby (1987) is a documentary filmmaker living in Oslo. She studied documentary filmmaking at the University of Lillehammer and aesthetics at the University of Bergen. Together with Anne Silje Bø, she made the documentary series Seventh Grade (2019) and the short films BOYS (2015) and School (2017), which were screened at several film festivals.t
Director Andreas J. Riiser (1979) graduated from the Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer. He worked as an assistant to Roy Andersson for several years. He is the author of several award-winning short films, including Isola (2006), Outside Comfort (2012) and Mr. Death (2016), which is currently being developed as a series for HBO. He also made the feature film Expedition Knerten (2017) and is involved in television, music and advertising.
