The Living Room

The Living Room

Roderick Hietbrink / Netherlands / 2011 / 9 min.

synopsis

The cosy interior of the living room of a family home is dominated by an oak tree trunk that sweeps through the room like a tornado, leaving a mess and broken things in its wake. The absurd image of a tow rope pulling a tree through a dwelling speaks of the cathartic power of nature once again taking control of the ridiculously small and fragile human world.

biography

Roderick Hietbrink (1975) is a Dutch artist and photographer who works with video installation, performance, and staged photography. In his works he often combines the artificial and the natural, or the tragic and the comic. His primary theme is nature trapped in human society.
