synopsis
A bird on a deer antler, a noblewoman on whom a chandelier fell, burning her to death, felt socks on the castle floor and backwards big game. The fairground attractions complementing genre pictures from a group bus tour to Hluboká Castle show tourists in slow motion or speeding up to escape into collective timelessness.biography
Jiří Papoušek (1920 - 1996) was a Czech film director, editor and documentary filmmaker, who studied at a graphic design school, but from 1945 onwards was introduced to many film professions. From 1949 he made documentary films of various themes. He has shot a variety of genres, from reporting on the Vienna Youth Festival, documenting the Spartakiads of 1960 and 1965, to films from countries such as Cuba and the USSR. In his later years, he devoted himself primarily to sports documentaries.more about film
