synopsis
İlhan Mimaroğlu was one of the pioneers of electronic music. In the late 1950s, he and his wife emigrated from Turkey to the United States. There they continued to discover new sounds together. In addition to excerpts from their film and photographic archives, the multi-layered audiovisual portrait consists of excerpts from İlhan's compositions and the personal reflections of both spouses.

biography
Serdar Kökçeoğlu (1975) has studied directing at Dokuz Eylül University. He is a member of the SIYAD, the society of cinematographers, and writes articles for film magazines. In recent years, he has studied short film and lectured on film sound and scriptwriting. He has also founded Ses Kitab, an online music label. His interest in sound is reflected in his short film Listening Through Istanbul (2018). Mimaroglu: The Robinson of Manhattan Island is his first feature documentary.more about film
