synopsis
The film is a glimpse into the everyday life of one of many Georgian women working as live-in maids in Greece. A short testimony on separation, a life lacking in background and privacy, a difficult and low-paid job and importance of human decency, providing these women with a force preventing them from surrendering into the feelings of inferiority.“Working as a live-in maid is not a job, it is a sacrifice.”
biography
Tatiana Mavromati (* 1978) is an Athens based documentary photographer and educator. Her photographs have featured in Greek and international newspapers and explore themes such as migrant cultures, gender issues and women’s labour, among others. She has recently began using video as part of her practice.Artist and filmmaker Laura Maragoudaki (* 1983) works across documentary film and visual art. She is interested in collective and individual narratives that compose the stories of communities. Her practice combines elements of oral history, the use of archives and inter-disciplinary collaborations.
