Extreme Mayor
Lukáš Záhoř / Czech Republic / 2019 / 60 min.
synopsis
Black garbage dumps, illegal hostels, graffiti artists, bike thieves. These are problems that almost every mayor in the Czech Republic faces. However, not every municipality is headed by Pavel Novotný – a man who claims to be an "obsessive maniac" who will "stop at nothing" to protect the welfare of his fellow citizens, as evidenced by the cameras of web television network Mall.tv. On the show Extreme Mayor, he’s not looking for excuses, but solutions that can sometimes be — as the show’s name might suggest — rather unusual.
biography
As a lead producer for the past decade, Lukáš Záhoř has pushed for the transformation of Stream.cz from a video server into the most watched domestic web television. He helped give rise to the political satire Kancelář Blaník, the reporter series Praha vs. prachy, and the show Jídlo s.r.o. and also helped pioneer web series in the Czech Republic. All of this success happened after his four-year stint at the Zlín Film School, which he ran from 2003 to 2007. He now scouts, develops, and produces programmes suitable for online audiences on the web television network Mall.tv. Under his leadership, the network has already won a number of awards during its two-year existence and has even been nominated for the prestigious Emmy International Award.
