Eurimages and Docs - Should I or Should I Not

An introduction to Eurimages with cross-references to recent documentaries supported by this international co-production fund. The presentation will be followed by Q&A.


Anton Calleja has been working as a Project Manager at Eurimages, the Council of Europe’s co-production fund, since August 2006. At Eurimages, Anton is responsible for fiction films and feature-length documentaries. He is also in charge of legal affairs. Before that, Anton practiced as a lawyer in Malta and also worked in London and Luxembourg. As a lawyer, he advised and represented producers and other film industry representatives. Anton graduated Doctor of Laws with a thesis on fiscal and financial incentives for the film industry. In 2001, he pursued studies in Film Production in Rome (EMAM), and in 2012 he completed the EAVE Producers training course.


Co-production projects managed by Anton at Eurimages include feature-length documentaries such as Into Eternity (dir. Michael Madsen, 2010: IDFA Green Screen Award), Forgotten Space (dir. Noel Burch and Allan Sekula, 2010: Orizzonti Special Jury Prize Venice FF), Vivan Las Antipodas (dir. Victor Kossakovsky, 2011: nominated for Best Documentary Award, EFA). Michel Pettrucciani (dir. Michael Radford, 2011: Cannes), Whores’ Glory (dir. Michael Glawogger, 2011), We Come As Friends (dir. Hubert Sauper, 2013: Peace Film Prize Berlinale and Special Jury Award Sundance), Francofonia (Alexander Sokurov, 2015: Venice Film Festival),  A German Youth (dir. Jean-Gabriel Periot, 2015: Berlinale), Houston, We Have a Problem (dir. Žiga Virc, 2016: Tribeca), Zud (dir. Marta Minorowicz, 2016: Berlinale), Nothingwood (dir. Sonia Kronlund, 2017: Director’s Fortnight Cannes), and The Prince and the Dybbuk (dir. Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosolowski, 2017: Best Documentary Award, Venice Film Festival).
